MDC Chitungwiza Province has officially announced that it has switched sides and backing the Dr Thokozani Khupe led MDC T structures. In a announcement this morning, the Provincial Secretary Mr Lloyd Damba stated that the province was grateful to the men and women “who are at the forefront of steering the real MDC T ship back into the right course namely the Acting President Dr Thokozani Khupe, who many think that she is the Acting President because of the Supreme Court judgement but let us categorically state that she is the Acting President because of our own party Constitution.” Below is Mr Damba’s full statement:
MDC- T CHITUNGWIZA PROVINCE
Would like to take this opportunity to thank the esteemed leadership of our Party MDC -T for steering back the party to its Founding Values ,Principles, Culture and Character.
We would also like to thank fellow founding Cadres like Shaky Mukoyi, Hon Mpariwa, Hon Tapiwa Mashakada , Hon Gift Chimanikire and many others for retracing their footprints back into the party they help found 2 decades ago.
I hope many others will follow and its never too late.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the few man and women who are at the forefront of steering the real MDC T ship back into the right course namely the Acting President Dr Thokozani Khupe, who many think that she is the Acting President because of the Supreme Court judgement but let us categorically state that she is the Acting President because of our own party Constitution.
The court did not impose her on us but we elected her Deputy President in 2014 because of merit.
We would also like to thank Sen Komichi and Sen Mwonzora for braving the insults on their character and persons because they dared challenge an illegality by a self proclaimed political saint.
As we gravitate towards the Extra Ordinary Congress let us remain united and focused and continue to work as a team , our efforts must be put towards complimenting each other rather than competing against each other.
We all know that the Extra Ordinary Congress is not there to impose anyone to be President but to freely and democratically elect a successor to our late founding father Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai and put closure to the leadership dispute once and for all.
We hope that when the campaigning finally takes off all candidates will do so in a mature manner and shun name calling, character assassinations and slander.
Because tomorrow will all need each other.
For and On behalf of Chitungwiza Province.
The Constitution must be followed by Individuals and not for the Constitution to follow the individual
Mr L Damba
Chitungwiza Provincial Secretary
